Plymouth was founded when a group of pilgrims went on a trip to escape England. They were running away from England because of religious beliefs. Two ships set sail to find new land. The ships were called th Mayflower and the Speedwell. Nintey people boarded the Mayflower and thirty boarded the Speedwell. All together one hundred and twenty people set sail for new land.
